What is farmyard manure?
Well-rotted farmyard manure is a soil-enriching product, produced from organic matter. When dug into and mixed with soil, it helps to boost nutrient levels and improve the soil properties.
Manure is the composted by-products of organic matter from cattle and horse dung, combined with composted farmyard beddings.

How to Use
How to use Farmyard Manure...
It is best dug in to the soil for immediate benefits to the soil characteristics, can also be used a mulch.
For a first application to heavy, stale soils the manure should be applied at a depth of approximately 80 – 120mm and incorporated evenly throughout the top 250 – 350 mm of soil.
For subsequent annual applications and to bulk up sandy soils, apply at a depth of approximately 30 – 80mm and incorporate into the top fork depth of soil to build up structure and fertility year on year.
Ensure the farmyard manure is well mixed in with the soil to give maximum benefit to the plants and to create an even distribution of nutrients.
Manure is also suitable for mulching around the bases of well established fruit trees and bushes. To insulate the root base and feed the top soil apply to a depth of approximately 40 – 70mm. For more information on mulching, see our mulches page.
When to use Farmyard Manure...
Manure is best dug in where required in autumn through to early spring and left to rest before planting. It can be continued to be used as a light dressing or mulch all year round.

- Ideally use within 1 year of purchase.
- Product is sold as one Bulk Bag which is approximately 900L when filled. Product may settle or compress during filling and transport.
- As with all gardening activities, please wear gloves and wash hands when finished and before eating or drinking any thing.
- Store unused products away from potential contamination such as chemicals or weed killers.
- To avoid danger of suffocation, keep bags away from babies and children.
- As with all natural materials, photos may vary slightly from the actual product.
- Every effort has been made to ensure the compost contains no germs, sharp fragments, toxins or regenerative plant parts. However the compost producer can not guarantee that they will never be present. As with all products of this type, wear gloves when handling and wash hands after use.
- Some animals may be attracted to manures – manure can be dug in to reduce the attraction although it will not be harmful to them.
- During storage, organic materials may develop a white mould, this is completely natural and harmless and will soon disappear when agitated.
- When soil is disturbed and organic matter applied, mushrooms and other types on fungi may temporarily appear. This is great news as the natural soil web is returning to your garden, just hoe them over and they will disappear. They are harmless.
